This blog is my story of having a child with spina bifida…and fighting the system to let him live a normal, healthy life.
It begins in 1984, long before Internet or easy access to the information we have today. Much of what occurred would not have happened if I could have had access to the kind of research that can be done now from my desk at home. On the other hand, the social conditioning that I fell prey to, that of giving up responsibility for my children’s health to doctors and nurses and blindly believing what they were telling me, is still present in our various cultures. So many parents (and their children) are the victims of blind belief in a medical system that just barely works.
I’ve marked the story #1, #2, etc. so that you can easily start at the first post of the story. The first part of the story is under the category “The Beginning”.
